Completion of the
Law and Ethics program is a requirement for registration as
a Professional Engineer, Professional Geoscientist, Non-Resident Licensee or Engineering/Geoscience Licensee.
Before becoming registered, applicants must
do one of the following:

The
Law and Ethics program teaches practical law, occupational
health and safety, employment law and professional practice
and ethics for engineers and geoscientists. The Law
and Ethics Seminar is a two -day seminar held in the Lower
Mainland. The CD-ROM Set is a four -disc recorded version of
the seminar.
All
applicants for registration as a Professional Engineer, Professional Geoscientist, Non-Resident Licensee or Engineering/Geoscience Licensee must do one of the following:
- Attend
the full two-day seminar; or
- Purchase
and view the entire CD-ROM Set and submit a declaration that they
have done so.
Applicants must attend the full seminar, or purchase and view the entire CD-ROM set.
A signed declaration you have viewed the CD -ROM set must be submited in order to be granted credit for the Law and Ethics requirement.
You
do not have to take or view the seminar if:
- you are applying for registration/licence under the Inter-Association Mobility Agreement and are a Professional Engineer, Professional Geoscientist, Professional Geologist, Professional Geophysicist, ingénieur(e) or géologue in good standing with another Canadian association/ordre;
- you have taken a seminar of similar breadth and depth offered by as part of your registration with another Canadian Association/Ordre; or
- you are a non-practising member applying for reinstatement of practice rights after they have lapsed for less than one year; or
- you are a former member who is not applying under the terms of the Inter-Association Mobility Agreement and whose practice rights have lapsed for more than one year and less than three years; and you have previously completed APEGBC's Law and Ethics Seminar
- You are a non-practising member applying for reinstatement of practice rights after they have lapsed for more than one year and less than three years; and you have previously completed APEGBC's Law and Ethics Seminar
- You are applying to become an EIT or a GIT.
APEGBC
will ask you to satisfy this requirement after we receive
your application for registration. You may satisfy this
requirement at any time.
It is also recommended that you attend the Law and Ethics seminar or purchase and view the Law and Ethics CD-ROM Set prior to taking the Professional Practice Examination. |
