Moon Under Water Brew Pub (map)
350B Bay Street, Victoria BC,
(250) 380-0706
|
| Details: |
The Moon Under Water is a brewpub that offers English-Style session Ales from its 10-hectolitre brewhouse. We will tour the brewery facilities and then settle in for dinner, sample the brewery wares if you’d like, and hold our Annual General Meeting.
Note that tours are for 20 people at a time. First tour is at 5:15PM, second tour is at 5:40. The brewpub is not large, so dinner orders may be taken when one tour is underway to ease kitchen processes. Meeting to start around 7:00PM.
The “The Moon Under Water” brewpub was named after a 1946 essay written by George Orwell. In this essay he describes his ideal pub:
| |
“My favourite public-house, the Moon Under Water, is only two minutes from a bus stop, but it is on a side-street, and drunks and rowdies never seem to find their way there, even on Saturday nights. Its clientele, though fairly large, consists mostly of “regulars” who occupy the same chair every evening and go there for conversation as much as for the beer.
If you are asked why you favour a particular public-house, it would seem natural to put the beer first, but the thing that most appeals to me about the Moon Under Water is what people call its “atmosphere”. |

|
| Cost: |
$30.00 for the Brewery Tour, dinner (main course, dessert, coffer/tea, tax and tip) and meeting.

Commemorating Richard (Dick) Talbot, P.Eng.
Richard Talbot believed in the professionalism of Engineering, and was a strong supporter of the Victoria chapters of the EIC and the CSCE. He was also a mentor to many of our present members.
In 1995, the APEGBC planned to present him with the Professional Service Award, in recognition of his lifetime dedication to APEG and other technical and community societies. Sadly, Dick died of cancer that summer at the relatively young age of 64, just prior to the awards ceremony. The award was presented posthumously to his wife, Christine.
To honour Dick’s contribution, the Victoria Branch mandated a yearly award for a University of Victoria Engineering student.
For more information about the Talbot Awards and past winners please click here.
