APEGBC is pleased to introduce the DEERE professional development stream at its 2012 conference in Victoria, BC on October 25-27, 2012. APEGBC is seeking presenters for professional development topics that are relevant to this stream. Presentations should be 1 hour and 15 minutes in length. Presentations of 35 minutes in length will also be considered. All presentations must include time for questions and answers. If you would like to present your topic at the conference, please indicate your interest by e-mailing the following information to groddan@gmail.com
- Presentation abstract: Maximum 400 words outlining the presentation content
- Presentation length: 1 hour 15 minutes or 35 minutes
- Target audience: Include discipline and level (introductory, intermediate, advanced)

Meeting Announcement – Sept. 28
I am happy to announce our first meeting for the newly established Division of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (DEERE). One of the objectives of the meeting will be to establish an interim executive for the division.
The meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 28th from 5:00-7:00 pm. The location is at BCIT campus in Burnaby. Please register/RSVP through deere@apeg.bc.ca by Friday, September 16th.
I am also happy to report that membership in the division has reached over 130 members. We are sending this e-mail invitation to all members and those who have communicated interest to us. If you have not yet registered as a member of DEERE and would like to, please register here: Register for DEERE. Membership with DEERE is complimentary until the end of 2011, then $30-60.00 per year thereafter.

Thank you for your interest in the new Division of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy under APEGBC.
Purpose and Objectives
(a) Advance all aspects of renewable energy engineering and energy efficiency , both on the demand and supply sides for supporting sustainable clean energy;
(b) Promote education, professional development, and high standards of practice in the fields of renewable energy and energy efficiency engineering;
(c) Promote awareness of engineers in different fields of energy engineering to members of the Association, industry, public and government organizations with mandates related to sustainable energy technology and policy;
(d) Act on issues pertaining to the fields of energy efficiency and renewable energy;
(e) Provide a mechanism to exchange and disseminate information among Division members;
(f) Create a forum for dialogue and build relationships with other professionals working in the energy sector;
(g) Present considered opinions and recommendations to Council;
(h) Create and provide professional development opportunities for members through seminars, field trips, workshops, webinars and other events; and,
(i) Enhance the knowledge and support the stature of clean energy engineering and sustainability within the public and the Association through promotion and advancement of practices.

(a) Division Member Fee: $50.00 per year (plus all appropriate taxes) for P.Eng. or P.Geo Members of APEGBC.
(b) Division Associate Member Fee: $30.00 per year (plus all appropriate taxes) for EIT or GIT or MAPS (Student Members) of APEGBC.
