Membership in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC entitles individuals to numerous benefits. Of primary benefit is registration on the Register of Members providing the legal authorization to practice professional engineering and geoscience in British Columbia under the provincial Engineers and Geoscientists Act. As a self-regulating body under the Act, APEGBC maintains the high standards of professional practice that British Columbians have come to expect, through a comprehensive peer review system.

Communication is a key benefit of membership and APEGBC members are kept informed on professional and Association issues through the APEGBC website, Branch and Division e-newsletters and the Association's journal, Innovation.

Members also benefit from the Association's expanding list of affinity partners. These partnerships provide additional benefits including: a discounted cellular phone plan, auto purchase insurance and rental programs, a private health services plan, financial management services, registered education savings plan services, a group insurance plan, and a biennial compensation schedule. Watch this site for new partnerships as they develop.

Affinity Programs
While the Association's core business is protection of the public interest in engineering in geoscience by self-regulation of its members, it also provides some value-added services for members. With the buying power of one of the largest professions in BC, the Association has access to extremely competitive prices on the goods and services that matter most to APEGBC members.

Employment Centre
The Association strives to ensure all our members achieve gainful employment in the engineering and geoscience sectors. Our Employment Centre has been designed to assist members seeking employment as well as employers seeking professionals.

Branches & Divisions
The Association operates a geographical branch structure to help provide professional development, technical and networking opportunities to members in all areas of the province. Special interest divisions provide a forum for the exchange of ideas in a particular field or area of practice.

Calendar of Events
Events for the enjoyment and education of APEGBC members, including information forums, meetings, Division and Branch Events are listed in the Calender of Events.

Awards
The Association is proud to honour its members with the annual President's Awards, Environmental Awards, and Sustainability Awards that recognize exemplary achievements and contributions of members throughout British Columbia.

Mentoring
As an APEGBC member-in-training (MIT) progresses along the path towards professional registration as an engineer or geoscientist, a mentor can provide valuable wisdom, advice and knowledge. Based on their technical, professional and personal experiences, mentors can help MITs work towards the goal of professional registration.

Foundation
The APEGBC Foundation is a registered charity chartered in 1994 to provide scholarships and bursaries to students in engineering and geoscience. Since its inception, members and firms have generously donated, which has enabled the Foundation to expand the number and value of undergraduate scholarship programs through awards and grants of more than $300,000 over that same time period.

Benevolent Fund
The Engineers and Geoscientists Benevolent Fund is a registered charity under the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency devoted to assisting members in financial distress to over come short-term cash-flow difficulties.

Iron Ring
The ceremony calls on all engineering graduates to undertake an obligation to strive to perform work and assignments to the best of their ability. A ring made of iron, one of the first modern materials used to forge a new world by our ancestors - is worn on the small finger of the working hand, and acts as a reminder of this obligation. This ceremony is performed across Canada each spring, marking the transition from student life to a career in engineering.

Volunteer
Well over 1,000 APEGBC members volunteer their services to the Association every year. Many of these members participate in Branch and Division executives in their own region or area of expertise, while others serve as committee or task force volunteers.
